The team
McLaren Racing is Formula 1’s second-most successful constructor, racing out of the McLaren Technology Centre in Woking, England. Founded by New Zealander Bruce McLaren in 1963, the team has won championships across five different decades and has spent recent seasons re-established among the sport’s front-runners under CEO Zak Brown and team principal Andrea Stella.
2026 season
McLaren’s season has been a study in contrasts: technically bold — including the folding “H-wing” rear wing concept trialled at Monza before being shelved for Madrid — but competitively frustrating, with the team chasing Mercedes‘ pace-setting package. The defining moment of the year came off-track: Lando Norris signed a contract extension through 2030, the longest commitment on the grid, sharpening questions about team-mate Oscar Piastri’s long-term position that intensified after the pair’s flashpoints at Monza prompted an internal review.
