The team
Alpine is the French works team racing from the historic Enstone factory that previously won championships as Benetton and Renault. The operation has weathered years of management churn and ownership speculation, but its engineering core has repeatedly proven capable of punching above the team’s resources — never more visibly than in 2026.
2026 season
Alpine delivered the season’s biggest single shock at Monza, where Pierre Gasly took the first pole position of his nine-year career — a result built on the team’s boldest technical gamble, the folding low-drag rear wing, and a lap of zero margin. The team has also been at the centre of the season’s angriest controversy: the FIA appeal court ruling that retrospectively stripped Gasly’s Monaco podium, prompting Flavio Briatore’s extraordinary public attack on the court’s impartiality. Between the highs and the fury, rookie Franco Colapinto has shown flashes of the pace that earned his fresh deal.
