The team
Cadillac is Formula 1’s first genuinely new team since 2016 and its eleventh entry, backed by General Motors and TWG Global. Operating from a new base in the United States with a European hub at Silverstone, the team arrived with Ferrari power units for its debut while GM develops its own engine for later in the decade.
2026 season
Every new team’s first season is an education, and Cadillac’s has been a demanding one: a mid-season leadership change, an FIA fine with warnings of stiffer penalties, and a heavy testing crash for reserve Colton Herta. Yet the project’s fundamentals are sound. Valtteri Bottas and Sergio Pérez bring more than 500 Grands Prix of experience between them, and Pérez in particular has become the engineering group’s compass — his talk of a “breakthrough” at Madrid reflecting a team now targeting specific weekends rather than merely surviving them. Points are the goal before the season ends; the trajectory is what matters.
